We’re passionate about Portsmouth, and wanted to tell you about a few local charities we have chosen to support this year.

Rowans Hospice

Our Easter Bunny Run in April 2020 is fundraising for Rowans Hospice.

Rowans Hospice is a charity providing free care and support to adults in our community who have a life-limiting illness and their families. Through their many different services, they support people to live as well as they can with their illness. From the moment of diagnosis through to bereavement support. At their Living Well Centre, they put the emphasis on ‘living’ with a life-limiting illness. People can drop in and get expert advice; there’s no need to feel alone. One of their nurses will talk through all the support, different classes and treatments that can be to accessed to help with healthcare.

All Call Signs

Our Golf day on Hayling Island in July 2020 is fundraising for All Call Signs.

All Call Signs was created by two veterans who suffer with mental health issues that stem from their military careers. In the wake of the loss of their service friend, Danny Johnston, in May 2018, the pair put their heads together to provide a solution to what they saw as a gap in services available to our Armed Forces personnel. It the first 12 months since they founded All Call Signs, they have managed to grow exponentially.

Their Beacon application (for recovering at-risk members of the Armed Forces community when they go missing) has 7500+ users. Their chat application is the largest peer support network in the UK with 470+ dedicated support listeners, all with a military background.

RNLI Eastney

Our RNLI 10K race is in October every year, and it starts and finishes at the lifeboat station in Eastney. It fundraises for the RNLI, a charity very close to our hearts in Portsmouth.

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. Portsmouth lifeboat station is one of 236 lifeboat stations around the UK, and located at Eastney Point, at the entrance to Langstone Harbour. Portsmouth is the 10th busiest station with 100 shouts a year. The station is entirely managed and operated by volunteers. The crew are on a paging system providing standby cover 24 hours a day 365 days a year and will man the lifeboats when requested by HM Coastguard via the pagers (and yes, they have been called out on Christmas Day too!).
