Welcome to the official page for the Portsmouth Coastal Half Marathon 2016 raising money for the Portsmouth RNLI. If you like to run something slightly different then this is for you.
The first 3 miles take in the fantastic views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight and some good sightseeing along the Portsmouth and Southsea Seafront, Royal Marine’s Museum, South Parade Pier, Pyramids.
Then from 4 to 8 miles a mixture of off road running with grass at Bransbury park, then on the beach shingle/Mud at the Thatched House Pub and all around the Milton Common before returning to the beach and the last 6 miles back along Southsea Seafront down to Old Portsmouth and looping back to the finish just by the Pyramids.
If the tide comes in you may just get wet feet and Muddy.
Believe and Achieve Personal Training and Events Ltd Portsmouth are proud to organise and run these events to raise money for the local Lifeboats based at Eastney.

Portsmouth Coastal Half Marathon
Sunday 14th February 2016 – 09.45am start
Pre-Race Number and Chip collection EXPO
This can be done on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th at Alexandra Sports, 140 Gladys Avenue, Northend during normal opening times. A great opportunity for local runners to get kitted out before the event and save yourself some time on race day morning. Plus we will have some treats for those attending early on Saturday morning and some great sale stuff.
Start / Finish: Registration, Number and Chip Timing collection is from 7.30am inside the Plaza Suite at the front of The Pyramids Leisure Centre, Southsea. Postcode for Pyramids is PO5 3ST.
All runners should be in place by 09.35am for a 09.45am start. The start will not be delayed for late arrivals.
On crossing the finish line, all runners must move quickly forward to collect medals, and not crowd the finish area.
The Route: the route is Flat and of very mixed terrain – pavement, road, grass, shingle and footpath, muddy beach if wet.
All hazards and turns will be well signposted and marshalled but please be aware. Please keep to the left as much as possible.
Route Hazards: Side Roads: Parts of the race will cross side roads and, while these are marshalled, all runners are responsible for their own safety while crossing these roads. Please be aware of traffic entering and leaving these side roads.
Pedestrians: We cannot close the seafront promenades and pavements to pedestrians so runners should note these as potential hazards. We would ask all runners to be courteous to pedestrians, and anyone found verbally abusing pedestrians will have their number noted and will be disqualified.
Street furniture: Please take care with seats, bollards, bus shelters etc.
The organisers will not be held responsible for any loss, personal injury or damage to any runner as a result of entering or participating in this event.
Road Closures; Please note that there is a road closure on ferry road for the 1st part of the run. KEEP RIGHT ON THIS SECTION AT ALL TIMES.
Water Stations; Water stations will be provided around the course.
Mile Markers; Will be placed every mile up to Mile 13.
Safety; It is each runner’s responsibility to take care of their own safety and welfare before, during, and after the event.
VM Langford ltd personnel will be on duty in case of need. If you feel unwell during the event, please go the closest marshal on the course and seek assistance.
Training; For many runners, a Half Marathon is the pinnacle of their ambition. It should be treated seriously; you need to be in good physical shape to take part.
Make sure you have appropriate footwear suitable for running a Half Marathon. If in doubt, visit a good running store to seek advice.
Wearing appropriate running kit will help to keep you comfortable, warm and dry if the weather is adverse. Again a good running store can advise.
DO NOT attempt to run on the day if you are feeling under the weather – you may do yourself more harm than good.
Race Numbers;Race numbers should be worn on the front and held on with 4 safety pins and Medical info filled in on the back.
Refreshments; There will be drinks posts around the route.
There will be the opportunity to purchase other food and hot drinks as well at the Pyramids centre. And cafe2u coffee

Approaching from M27 west take M275 into Portsmouth and follow seafront signs.
Approaching from the A27 east, follow the signs to Southsea seafront A2030, at junction near football ground bear left into Milton road and then follow seafront signs.
By Rail: Pyramids Centre is a 30 minute walk from the Fratton railway station. Please leave plenty of time for your journey
Parking Facilities:Pay and Display Parking is along the seafront and at the pyramids car park up to 6hours = £6.80. Free parking is east of south parade pier and around the canoe lake area. (PLEASE do park legally and respect local residents).
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANY VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR, WE CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS FROM YOUR CAR. KEEP THEM OUT OF SIGHT.
Marshals;please respect the marshals and all the helpers on the day.
Please obey the instructions of the Police and marshals. Do thank them – remember that they have given up their time in order to make the race possible.
First Aid; We are very grateful to Langford Medical Services for providing First Aid for our event in the form of an ambulance and a team of their trained staff around the course.
If you require the assistance of the medical team or need to withdraw from the event, please see a marshal, who will assist you.
We will provide a sweeper vehicle to pick up any runners that cannot complete the course.
Toilets; There will be a number of toilets at the Pyramid Centre. And there are 4 public toilets on route.

BAGGAGE; we will have a bag drop within the pyramid Centre. Please label your own bag with a label and write on your race number please. You will be informed via email of your race number before the event. Please help us to make your race day run as smooth as possible
